  • Mr. Backup Is Right: (Cloud) Replication Is Not Backup, But Backup Is!

Go read that headline again: W. Curtis "Mr. Backup" Preston points out on his blog that replication is not backup , and we can't disagree. Keeping alternative copies of data in multiple locations is a great idea , reducing the risk of data loss and potentially enabling enhanced access,...

  • Re: Synchronous Update

There are a few options, the reason why the update requires the callback URL is because the process of appending to the file is not done at the time of the actual upload but instead in the background. Should there be a problem appending the data the error would come back in the callback. One way to handle...

  • When is MetaData Available?

When a video is uploaded for transcoding, when is the meta-data available for either the PRE or POST transcoded file? My understading is that meta-data generation is not always immediate, which makes sense for a PRE-transcoded file. But I would think the POST transcoded file would have the system generated...

  • 2 Metadata Functions for the IMFS.php

I added these 2 functions to the IMFS.php in SetMetadata, the $metainfo variable is an array consisting of the several Key:Value pairs for the metadata to be set, so that several metadata can be set at the same time. The functions don't check for invalid chars so be warned and double check if it...

  • Re: Metadata on search request

Great suggestion, we hope to have many improvements to the search over time. I have added this request to the list of items we would like to see implemented. This is definitely a viable item to return with search so we will try to get it in as soon as possible. Thanks, Barry R.

  • Re: What Metadata is supported?

The current Metadata fields that are automatically extracted are: Width Height Duration BitRate FrameRate Title Artist Album Genre Track IsVariableBitRate Author Creator Producer Subject Trapped GraphFonts We will always make a best effort to extract this information from the files provided but some...

  • What Metadata is supported?

What types of Metadata are supported in the SDS functions? I'm working with mostly audio files (mp3, aiff, wav), so I'm curious about this type of functionality. Thanks.

  • Search and FileType

How is the FileType of the files returned by SearchFileSystem and SearchMetadata determined? Is it pulled from the file, or just based on the extension? If determined by extension, it would be helpful to have a list posted somewhere showing which extensions are being mapped to which type. Also, if not...

  • Re: Search across all users?

When you log in to Authentication->Login you pass appkey, username. If you login using the Master account the session token will be returned for that application. The master account has a unique file space under each application (If you don't need or want child accounts). By logging in with that...
