    CloudNas Questions

    I have a few CloudNas questions.

    1. Will there be an extra cost associated with it?
    2. Will there be support for CentOS?
    3. I'm kind of new to Network Attached Storage but in theory could I set this up on my media backup or video sharing site and the directory to upload files and therefore bypass using the API upload calls.
    4. What kind of performance issues would question #3 cause?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    We are currently investigating the pricing for this application.  We are expecting it to be released as a free download with a seperate cost if you need support.  Final pricing for the application and support will be revealed when we exit the beta period.

    We are not releasing the road map for OS support but the work in converting to a different platform relies on testing for that distro and any script changes to make it compatible.  As we get closer to releasing more information about future distro's we want to support should be available.

    One of the best uses of the mount is to simplify backup operations where files are copied to the mount.  The performance should be similar to any other Partial File Upload (HTTP Upload) for this use case.

    1. So I could write an video sharing Python app that would upload files directly to Nirvanix using CloudNas? Forgive I'm having one of those "slow" days.
    2. Also I know it's early in the process, but are we looking at a long wait to get in the beta and for the final version to come out?

    I am just about to release the full Python SDK which will let you do upload with two lines of code and some imports such as:

            uploader = NirvanixUploader(session)
            uploader.uploadfile('uploadtest.txt', '/uploaddir/', 'uploadtest.txt')

    The preview release already does this as well.

    I don't have a time period for the mount beta applicants being accepted but if you are interested please let us know so we can add you to the queue.
