Is there any way that I can disable caching all together? I want to run a very small appliance and do not want to have to store so much data locally. I don't really need the safety net of cache.

I assume you're talking about the CloudNAS? If so, you can disable the cache; however, there are limitations with the functionality of the CloudNAS in this case. I can provide more information if you would like.
