Hi,

 We are currently using Augrima Image uploader to resize the picture (both dimension AND actual file size).

For example, when the user upload a picture, the uploader can resize a picture (1600x1024) which is over 1MB down to 120x90 at file size 5KB with 80% of original quality.

 Can your resize function acheive similar result?

We do not have an interface on the image resize for the quality level.  My suggestion would be to give the resize a try and see if the default compression for jpg is what you would expect.  The height and width are parameters to the image/resize call which you can find here: http://developer.nirvanix.com/sitefiles/1000/API.html#_Toc175999944
