"Nodes locked to" - new field in management portal

    Hello again,

I've just noticed that the Nirvanix Management Portal has a new field for our application, it's called "Nodes locked to" and it says (in our case) "North America - West". This is definitely new, I haven't seen this before (or maybe I missed it somehow ... ). I thought (based on my previous question in this forum) that the default configuration was not locked to any node, it would simply pick the right one based on the IP. Did this change? We are located in Europe (Bucharest, Romania) and we would like to use the European node (or nodes) if possible.

    Thank you,

    Razvan

Yes, this is a new change we will be charging different rates for each additional node you wish to use on the SDN.  Previously there was no node locking performed this is a new feature that will help you control costs associated with having multiple copies and other SDN functionality.

Thank you Barry! Could you please post a few additional details on the expected pricing changes? Will we be able to lock our application to the European servers only (since our clients will all be based in Europe)? Does locking have any impact on the reliability of your network (if the European node goes down for any reason, will the information be mirrored to one of the US nodes)? Ideally we would like to serve information from the European nodes whenever possible, but still keep the US node as a backup in case anything goes wrong with the EU one. Will this be possible?

    Best regards,
