HTTP Upload / Format confirmation and limit

    Hi,

According to your API guide, the limit for direct HTTP upload is about 2 megs, does this still hold true?  Also, are there plans to implement format checking for direct HTTP uploads (ie checking if the file uploaded is a valid image/video/audio file)?

Re: According to your API guide, the limit for direct HTTP upload is about 2 megs, does this still hold true?

The Nirvanix file system places a 256GB restriction on maximum file size.  However, when you use HTTP Upload the protocol limits you to a maximum upload of 2097150 bytes at a time.

To create the larger file you would need to use AppendFile and then end send an additional 2097150 bytes and repeat this until your file is completely written to the system. We do recommend using a number smaller than 2097150 bytes (say 196608 byes) to allow for overhead.Re: Whether we are considering format checking for direct HTTP uploadsThis feature is presently being actively considered by the Engineering and Product Teams but we do not have a date yet set for implementation.I hope this answers your questions. If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks,

Re: HTTP Upload / Format confirmation and limit

Is there any particular reason why the HTTP upload is limited to 2 megs?  Unfortunately,  our users generally upload photos that are >2 megs (and <10 megs).  Furthermore, I am also looking to avoid tying our servers up from file uploads, so I am unable to use SOAP operations such as AppendFile.

Re: Is there any particular reason why the HTTP upload is limited to 2 megs?

Let me apologize for the confusion on this issue. I have had a chance to sit down with both our Engineering and our Product Managers and they both concur that the API document does indeed have a technical typo.

Our maximum HTTP Upload is 2 GB, not 2 MB.

The document as presently written indicates the 2097150 bytes is the maximum content size. What it should read is that the maximum content size is 2097150 kilobytes. We are making changes to the document "as we speak"!

Once again, I apologize for the delay in getting you a definitive answer to your question.

If there is anything further that I can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
